WHAT ARE HUMAN RIGHTS ?

Human rights are rights that every human being has by virtue of his or her human dignity Human rights are rights inherent to all human beings. They define relationships between individuals and power structures, especially the State. Human rights delimit State power and, at the same time, require States to take positive measures ensuring an environment that enables all people to enjoy their human rights. History in the past 250 years has been shaped by the struggle to create such an environment. Starting with the French and American revolutions in the late eighteenth century, the idea of human rights has driven many revolutionary movements for empowerment and for control over the wielders of power, governments in particular.

WHO ARE WE ?

Some intellectuals and socially committed people after repeated brainstorming on significant issue of human rights as per the guidelines of United Nation, formed a vibrant human right association, Bihar, Patna under the society registration act XXI, with regd. No. 3375/1994. The founder hon’ble members were stalwarts of their field which included hon’ble Justice J Narayan, Justice R C P Sinha, Dr M Mohiuddin, Sri N K Prasad, Sri Braj Kishore Prasad, Sri Indu Shekhar Prasad, Prof. O P Jaiswal and Sri Rai Shivaji Nath, who initiated a series of activities to make people aware of their human rights and behave in a way to make this world a little better place to live. Presently, the association is being run under the able guidance of Sri A M Prasad and his distinguished team Conducting programs related to human rights throughout length and breadth of the state.

FOR WHAT ARE WE WORKING ?
  • To create awareness of human rights among the citizens for a peaceful and happy living.

  • To organised seminar, symposium, brainstorming sessions, panel discussion and action oriented programs related to issues of human rights.

  • To provide platform for human rights committed people to formulate action plan for effective and efficient implementation
    of action plan to safe guard the human rights in all section of society.

  • To implement programs of human right in organised, unorganised, NGO, government sector etc. and draw the attention
    of competed authority for appropriate action.

  • To publish newsletter, human rights journal, books etc to popularised the fundamentals and issues related human rights.

UNIVERSAL DECLARATION

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is a milestone document in the history of human rights. Drafted by representatives with different legal and cultural backgrounds from all regions of the world, the Declaration was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in Paris on 10 December 1948 (General Assembly resolution 217 A) as a common standard of achievements for all peoples and all nations. It sets out, for the first time, fundamental human rights to be universally protected and it has been translated into over 500 languages. The UDHR is widely recognized as having inspired, and paved the way for, the adoption of more than seventy human rights treaties, applied today on a permanent basis at global and regional levels (all containing references to it in their preambles).
